Load a record to begin. The demo signal is a synthetic bearing fault with a known answer.
On any plot: scroll to zoom, drag to pan, double-click or Reset view to go back. Shift-drag on the amplitude spectrum sets the demodulation band. Plots take the keyboard too: arrows, + - and 0. Drop a file anywhere on the page to open it.
How to read this
Each point is one record, in order. A bearing that is degrading climbs, and the dashed lines are alarm levels worked out from the first records of this sequence: where the curve crosses them and stays above is where damage became detectable. Kurtosis and crest factor rise early and then fall as damage spreads, so read them beside envelope band power.
How to read this
The record as measured. Use it as a sanity check: a flat line, a clipped top or one huge spike is a problem with the measurement. Tick band envelope to see the demodulated signal, which on a faulty bearing shows a burst at every impact.
How to read this
How much vibration there is at each frequency. The tall lines at the far left are shaft speed and its multiples. The shaded region is the demodulation band, and it must sit over a resonance, which looks like a broad hump. Shift-drag to move it. The diagnosis listens only inside that band.
How to read this
The picture the diagnosis is read from. Dashed vertical lines mark where each kind of fault would appear for this bearing at this shaft speed; the shaded strip around each is the slip allowed. A fault is tall, evenly spaced peaks on a marked line and its multiples (2x, 3x), standing above the dashed detection threshold. A healthy bearing is low noise underneath it.
In-browser assertion suite
The numerical checks behind this tool, run here against the build your browser actually loaded. Each row compares a computed value with a known answer. If they all pass, the arithmetic you are looking at is the arithmetic that was tested.
